COPPA Compliance

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) protects the privacy of children under 13 online. ThinkStem AI is designed with children's safety in mind and complies fully with COPPA requirements.

Parental Consent

For students under 13, we obtain consent through one of two methods:

  • School consent: When students access ThinkStem AI through a school, the school provides consent on behalf of parents under FERPA's "school official" exception
  • Parent consent: For independent learners, parents must verify their identity and provide explicit consent before a child can use the platform

Information We Collect from Children

We collect only what's necessary for educational purposes: first name, grade level, learning activity data, and AI tutor conversation history. We never collect: home addresses, phone numbers, or other personally identifying information beyond what's needed for the service.

How We Use Children's Information

Children's information is used solely to provide personalized learning experiences, track educational progress, and communicate with parents and teachers. We never use children's data for advertising or marketing purposes.

No Advertising

ThinkStem AI is completely ad-free for all users. We never serve ads to children, never track them across the web, and never use their data for behavioral targeting.

Parental Rights

Parents have the right to: review their child's information, request its deletion, refuse further collection, and revoke consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact info@thinkstemai.com.
